CHDFS was founded by parents of children with special needs, yet since that time we realized that the challenges faced by families and communities often extend beyond the individual child or person. We also realized that many children had relatives who were in need of support and services in order to attain sustainable family and community supports. From this realization, CHDFS' mission has evolved to address the challenges many families and communities face. Through community inclusion, self-determination, and creative solutions, people can learn to cope and overcome challenges they face. We believe our goals can be achieved through collaboration, support and creative thinking, backed by CHDFS' comprehensive approach towards finding the best solution possible.
We understand that supporting your loved one's during a time of need is a difficult task. We also know that task becomes more complicated when facing all the challenges involved in supporting people with special needs develop to their fullest potential. Our goals lead us to work with many people facing different kinds of situations. These include: children with special needs, individuals with disabilities, children and families involved in the foster care system, people and the elderly needing nursing or other home care services, and other populations needing some form of support. Support comes through the various services we offer, and we work to tailor our approach and care to make sure each life we touch gets the care they deserve.
