CHDFS believes in training and grooming employees to fit their niche. We have a strong support system for our full time workers where they are allowed to be creative, think outside the box, and be rewarded by their contributions made to the programs. Most of our full time workers have been student interns from an MSW program, BSW program, or have provided direct care with the agency.
Much of our current part-time staff, which consists of respite care and skill builder workers come with a passion to learn. They are the foundation of the agency. We believe in taking time to support these individuals, for many will become future professionals who will help develop the social service field. Most are attending school in different areas of the human and social careers with direct experience working with juveniles and/or children in several settings. CHDFS Inc. recruits these workers from different universities, colleges and community organizations throughout the New York City area.
Within the last 7 years, we have laid down the basis of a strong professional growth model for our employees. The model is marked by a training curriculum supported with supervision that fosters creative non judgmental performance with reasonable boundaries, effective communication skills, all harnessed with a safe and healthy environment.
