Mission Statement
CHDFS is committed to providing a safe haven and caring community for those in need. CHDFS assists troubled families and children in meeting their emotional, physical, and intellectual needs. We accomplish this by working with families and children through direct care interventions, advocacy, socialization, community integration, individualized treatment, research and education. CHDFS provides a nurturing, non-biased environment in which troubled individuals and families can learn and develop to their fullest potential.
Since its founding in 2002, CHDFS’ goal has been to offer caregivers of special needs children with the tools and knowledge they may need to advocate and care for their loved one. Within that goal our focus is particularly centered in fighting the stigma associated with labeling a child as a recipient of special education or mental health services. We strongly support the caregivers by empowering their rights to voice their opinion as well as to become active participants in shaping the educational or medical interventions affecting their future and their children’s well being.
